How to present: the covering letter and Curriculum Vitae

This section is very important because the curriculum vitae and covering letter can be the calling card with which to present to stakeholders responsible for personnel selection.

And 'so basic taking the time to draft your CV and cover letter: to possess certain skills, or have made certain experiences, it is often not sufficient if not then you have the opportunity to propose in the right presentation.

Some of the major pitfalls to avoid::

  • Attach the C.V. or the letter accompanying certificates and documents
  • Manoscrivere
  • Provide references
  • Writing in a foreign language, unless explicitly requested
  • Attach photographs, if not explicitly required
  • Forgetting to include the statement that authorizes the recipient of the CV the use of personal data under the D. lgs. 196/03 of 2003. An example of such a statement may be the traditional phrase "I authorize the processing of personal data under the D. lgs. 196/03 "is shown at the bottom of c.v. that in the letter. Do not enter it twice is redundant because the two documents are not necessarily stored together and that, failing this, their reported data on CV not usable by the recipient of the communication.

The Cover Letter

The cover letter should be clear, precise and direct: if they can prove what you want to know it will be easier to get it.

If you are willing, really, to make some sacrifices, such as transferring to another city, it is best to emphasize this: give a residence in the vicinity of the work for which you are applying, if you come from a distant city or even a different region, it often becomes essential to facilitate contact and an interview. The distance often feeds the scruples of some companies and recruitment companies, which are in doubt whether to contact potential candidates just because they are too distant from their place of work: support in the vicinity can be so useful, as well as the willingness to bear any costs travel expenses (not always reimbursed by whom to contact for an interview).

Depending on whether you send your c.v. in response to an advertisement or spontaneously to a company to which it has an interest, the letter differs in some details that may facilitate the work of those involved in the collection of applications.

·  If written in response to a job advert, for example, you should put in the letter, an indication of the source on which you have read the announcement of the research reported and the reference (if set to ' inside of the text itself).

·  If the position for which you are applying is in another city, that is what was mentioned above about the report available in the vicinity of the home, doing so will increase your chances of meeting a possible interview.

·  If the resume is sent in a spontaneous way, however should be directed to the office staff, the attention of the manager selection. If you know the name of the person who plays the role, you should send it directly to bringing back the details in the address of the company.

The way in which you decide to post your profile, take a few simple steps.

·   If you opt for a "Traditional" or paper, the letter must contain:

  • top right, the full address of the target company cv with a specific person to whom it is addressed
  • the city and the date on which the letter is written, updated every time the document is completed
  • preferable to always sign in the original communication, closing the letter

·  Send your c.v. e-mail, is becoming increasingly the preferred candidate, or by those who spontaneously decide to send their CV

In this case, the date is already specified in the message header and physical addresses of the recipient is not necessary to bring it back, but it is quite common to neglect the subject of the email message in which it is advisable to switch your name, followed by the profession. Once filed by the selector, the message will be easier to find.

If you are applying for a specific job opportunities, may be useful to report the object's reference to which it responds.

And do not leave empty subject field and enter your letter, just by giving your presentation to your CV Annex: thus it is likely that the recipient of the email sent has the impression that what could be a virus and that all risks to finish ... trashed!
